Wow!  You've learned a lot already from this module, and I am sure you are eager to put your knowledge into practice!  The purpose of the readings and viewing materials was to ensure that you had a thorough base of knowledge to begin formulating your own unique classroom management plans.  While we are not ready just yet to transition to a final product yet, we are ready to jump right into a huge component of any classroom management plan: the discipline plan.  By now you should know what type of disciplinarian you are, so make sure to create a plan that is conducive to your own personality type.

Hesitations or fears?  No worries, you can always change your plan, especially once you begin teaching in your own classroom.  The focus now is to create a simple plan that you could use with any age group.  So...get creative and have fun!

Module 1 Assignment: Create Your Own Introductory Classroom Rules

Are you ready to create?!  It's time to construct a brief introductory Discipline Plan which will be one of the primary components of your cumulative classroom management plan.

To begin, devise a list of rules that is simple, yet as we have discussed, is age-appropriate.  We are teaching a wide array of students, as our population ranges from 18 to 80!  Your plan should include the following:

  • Clear set of 4-10 rules for your classroom

  • Rationale for why they are important

  • Consequences and benefits of following guidelines

  • How you plan to discipline student in accordance to CEC's Code of Conduct policy

To get started, please click on the embedded Google Word Document or Google PowerPoint Document based on your preferences.  You will need to click on the desired presentation method below and SAVE A COPY First.   Please save your project as LastName_FirstName_DisciplinePlan and make sure to share it with your Program Chair.  I also would advise saving this to your own Google Drive so you can refer to it in the future.  Remember...everything that we learn and do in this workshop you will be able to use in your classrooms next session!  Have fun!

Good luck!
